Cloister Grill: Reviews & Ratings
If you’re looking for a hidden gem in the Inwood area that serves authentic Dominican and Puerto Rican food, look no further. I’ve been missing home so much lately, but stepping into this spot felt like I had just landed in Aguadilla. The rabo was hands down the best I’ve ever had in Manhattan—rich, tender, and full of flavor. The chinola juice was made fresh with real fruit, pulp and seeds included (yes, that fresh)! The tostones were crisp and clearly made from scratch—not frozen—and the chicken was so tender it fell right off the bone. Even the steamed vegetables were perfectly blanched and lightly seasoned. The bathroom, tables, and dining / cooking areas were impressing clean! You can tell everything is cooked with love. This place is officially one of our go-to spots. We’ll definitely be back soon!
Food is amazing, best authentic tasting Dominican food in the area. Take it from a Dominican who’s lived in the area and knows what he’s talking about. Give it a try you won’t go wrong I promise.
The seasonings here are on point. Love the sancocho and the sancocho de habichuelas. Rice was oddly cold, this never happed before so I won't hold against them.
After visiting the Met Cloisters, went to this restaurant for the first time and have to say that it's authentic Dominican food. Best braised Oxtails that I've ever had! My mom had the bacalao and she loved it. The Mofongo is pretty good too.
Really friendly staff and delicious and plentiful food! All this and the beverages was less than $50. Thanks for taking care of us! Gracias!
Quality food to eat after a day at the Met Cloisters. Super fast service, delicious flavors and so much food for such a good deal! Would absolutely recommend
Stopped by on my way to the Met Cloisters and was starving. This place had good, albeit few, reviews and I’ve never had Domincan food before, so I stopped by. It’s a really unassuming hole in the wall, but was clean (just some flies because summer time) with ample seating and had ready-made food. Thankfully, I’m from Texas so I spoke enough Spanish to be able to order (keep the google translate ready to order lol). Staff was really friendly and made me recommendations. The food tastes like you’re eating at someone’s mom’s house and they take care of you like a guest in their home. I highly recommend it.
After a day of medieval art at The Cloisters, found a great place for lunch nearby. The chicken was moist and delicious. The fried plantains were yummy, and the beef was incredibly tender. Highly recommend this spot for anyone visiting the area!
